Blackout Front Marker Light – STANAG 4381 Compliant

Blackout Front Marker Light – STANAG 4381 Compliant

Enhance convoy coordination with the STANAG 4381-compliant Blackout Front Marker. This compact marker offers optional IR output visible only with night-vision gear, while standard LED output ensures daytime visibility. Its aluminium housing and polycarbonate lens are sealed to IP67, and it integrates seamlessly into 12–24 V vehicle systems using Deutsch DT-series connectors.

Built to MIL‑STD 1275D, 461E, and 810F standards, this marker is engineered for rugged, demanding environments.

Features

  • Dual visible and IR output – Standard LED output for daytime visibility and optional infrared output visible only through night vision equipment, allowing the marker to operate in full blackout conditions without signature
  • STANAG 4381 compliant – Meets NATO blackout lighting requirements for front marker lights, ensuring compatibility across allied force vehicle fleets
  • 13 military color options – Available in Olive Green, Desert Tan, Chrome Green, and 10 additional military-standard colors to match vehicle livery across different operational theatres
  • IP68 sealed aluminum housing – Rated for continuous water immersion, covering river crossings, heavy rain, and high-pressure wash-down
  • Panel mount design – Flush-fitting panel mount integrates cleanly into vehicle bodywork without protruding hardware
  • 5 connector configurations – Multiple Deutsch DT-series options for direct integration into existing vehicle wiring across different platform types

The Front Marker in a STANAG 4381 Lighting System

The blackout front marker is one component of a complete STANAG 4381-compliant vehicle lighting system. In blackout operations, it provides the minimum forward visibility marker that allows convoy spacing to be maintained without producing a visible light signature detectable beyond close range.

The optional IR output extends this capability to night vision goggle-equipped operations, making the vehicle position visible to following vehicles equipped with NVGs while remaining invisible to the naked eye.

For a full STANAG 4381 lighting setup, the blackout front marker pairs with our blackout driving light for forward illumination and our convoy lights for rear convoy coordination.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is a NATO standard defining blackout vehicle lighting to ensure compatibility and performance across military fleets.

In IR mode, the marker emits infrared light at wavelengths invisible to the naked eye but visible through night vision goggles.

This allows the vehicle’s front position to be identified by NVG-equipped personnel at close range while maintaining full blackout from the perspective of anyone without night vision equipment.

Yes. The standard LED output mode provides visible front position marking for normal convoy movement and vehicle identification in daylight.

The marker switches between visible and IR output depending on the operational requirement, making it suitable for both overt and covert operations.

The blackout front marker meets MIL-STD-461F for electromagnetic compatibility, MIL-STD-810F for environmental and mechanical durability, STANAG 4381 for NATO blackout lighting requirements, and IP68 for water immersion protection.
