Infrared Light Set

Infrared Light Set

This set pairs the covert front illuminator with the infrared tail light so a vehicle is covered front and rear in one configuration. The front unit lights the route for a driver on night vision, while the rear unit gives the following vehicle a spacing and braking reference.

Both units are available from 850nm through 2200nm and are built to the same military test standards. Wavelength, intensity, connector type, and cable length are specified per order, so the two units arrive matched to each other and to the platform.

Why order the set

  • Covers forward driving and rear signaling in one specification, which removes a second sourcing round
  • Front and rear wavelength are matched at order stage so both units read the same under one sensor generation
  • Rear output is intensity controlled to prevent blooming in the following driver’s tubes at short spacing
  • Front optics fill the near field without glare while still projecting down the route
  • Connectors and cable lengths are cut to your existing harness, so no adapter leads or splices are needed
  • Both units carry the same EMC and environmental qualification, which shortens platform approval
  • Mounting interfaces and finishes are configurable for wheeled, tracked, and unmanned platforms

What the set includes

The front position uses the DPI-011-850 series covert infrared illuminator, a round aluminum unit with selectable beam angle and a high and low beam dimmer. It mounts by flange or magnet, which suits both permanent installations and temporary fits.

The rear position uses the infrared tail light, a dual mode IR marker covering tail and brake functions. Its threaded body and compact form allow it to drop into existing marker light positions on armored vehicles, tactical trucks, and UGVs.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Both units emit infrared only and produce no usable visible light, so detection requires night vision equipment. At 850nm a faint glow is visible at the emitter itself from close range, which is why 940nm and above are specified when that residual signature matters.

That depends on the sensors already in service. Image intensifier tubes and standard NVGs work with 850nm and 940nm, while wavelengths above roughly 1000nm require SWIR sensors, so the set should be ordered to match the equipment the crews actually carry.

Yes. Both units are supplied with the connector type and cable length you specify, including MIL-DTL 38999 series, flying lead, or a customer defined interface. Send the harness detail with the quotation request and the units are built to that interface.
