Features
- Six patterns from one lamp: select a slow beacon, fast repeating, double, quadruple, burst or steady flash to suit the task, without changing hardware.
- Visible or covert output: order red, green, blue or white for visible warning, or the infrared version to mark a vehicle that only night vision should see.
- One part across mixed fleets: the same lamp runs on 12 V light vehicles, 24 V military vehicles and higher-voltage equipment, which keeps spares holdings simple.
- No flash tube: solid-state LEDs replace the xenon tube of older strobes, so there is no tube to fail under shock and vibration or to replace.
- Low profile: about 4 inches high, so it fits on cab roofs, guards and equipment where a rotating beacon would stand too tall.
- Reverse polarity protection: the manufacturer states the lamp is protected against damage if the supply leads are connected the wrong way round.
- Washdown proof: sealed to withstand hot, high-pressure cleaning, the routine for vehicles that work in mud, dust and mines.
What is a mini strobe light?
A mini strobe light is a compact, vehicle-mounted LED lamp that emits short, intense flashes instead of a steady beam. It marks a vehicle that is stopped, working or moving slowly, or identifies one vehicle within a group, at a size that fits where a full-size beacon will not.
Model 407 has a die-cast aluminium housing and six flash patterns, selected through a dedicated wire. The infrared version is for military use only: it emits light that is invisible to the naked eye and shows through night vision devices, so a vehicle can be marked for friendly forces under light discipline. For fixed covert identification on a vehicle, see our IR beacon.
Positive supply, 12 V to 72 V DC.
Negative supply (ground).
Mode select. Touch it briefly to positive to step to the next flash pattern.

Built for Washdown, Vibration and Mixed Voltages
The housing is die-cast aluminium and the lens polycarbonate, so the lamp tolerates knocks from branches, tools and debris. IP69K is the highest water protection level of ISO 20653, which grew out of the German automotive standard DIN 40050-9. The test sprays water at 80 °C and 80 to 100 bar from close range, which matches the pressure washing that mining, plant and military vehicles receive after every deployment.
Military vehicles typically run on 24 V systems, whose 28 V power characteristics are described in MIL-STD-1275. Light vehicles use 12 V, and some industrial and mining equipment runs at 36, 48 or 72 V. With an input range of 12 V to 72 V DC, one lamp covers all of them. The current draw falls as the voltage rises, to 0.190 A at 72 V. The mini strobe is one of our LED signal lights.
Other Strobe Versions
Where mounting height is limited, the slim version stands less than 2.5 inches tall. Model 406 is a sister strobe with the same 12 V to 72 V input and six flash modes.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Infrared marker lights of this kind work in the near infrared, which image intensifying night vision goggles detect. Thermal (FLIR) sights detect heat, not this light, so they do not show the flash. Units that rely only on thermal imaging need a different marking method. The infrared version is supplied for military use only; ask us for the wavelength before you order. For background, see how night vision works.
Check the bolt pattern first. According to the manufacturer’s instructions, the base is about 5.12 inches in diameter, with four fixing holes on a 4.38 inch bolt circle at 90 degree intervals, for M5 or #8 screws. The mounting surface must be flat and solid. If the old strobe used a different pattern, plan for an adapter plate or new holes.
Yes, if you plan the wiring for it. The pattern changes each time the yellow wire is briefly connected to positive, so the yellow wire can be routed to a momentary push button in the cab. Without a button, the pattern is set once at installation and the yellow wire is insulated. The manufacturer does not state whether the lamp keeps its last pattern after power is removed, so check the pattern at the first switch-on.
