What is an LED Jeep fog light?
An LED Jeep fog light is a front fog lamp that replaces the factory fog lamps in the front bumper of a Jeep Wrangler. Unlike a headlamp, a fog lamp does not try to reach far ahead. It lights a wide band of road just in front of the vehicle and stays below a sharp cut-off, which is what keeps it useful when fog, heavy rain or falling snow scatter the light of the headlamps back at the driver.
Model 6145 J2 is built for Wrangler JK and JL vehicles, the platform many fleets use for patrol, ranger, utility and support duties. It meets the front fog lamp requirements of SAE J583 and UN Regulation No. 19, and is one of our LED fog lights for trucks and specialist vehicles.

Installation and Aiming
Each lamp replaces the factory fog lamp and is secured with the original mounting screws. The lamp is polarity sensitive: red is positive and black is ground. Where the factory plug does not match, the supplied jumper harness is spliced in. On some vehicles the complete lamp assembly will not fit between the sway bar and the frame, so check the space before a fleet installation.
Aim both lamps before tightening the screws. Switch them on, compare the two beam patterns on a wall and turn the adjustment screw (clockwise to raise, anticlockwise to lower) until the cut-off lines of both lamps sit level.

Seeing the Road Edge When Visibility Drops
In fog, rain and snow, light aimed upwards reflects off water droplets back at the driver, so main beam makes visibility worse. A fog lamp mounted low in the bumper puts its light under that layer, onto the road surface and verges. For a patrol or utility crew on rural roads and tracks at night, that light shows the road edge and the next turning.
The 5000K output is a neutral white close to daylight. Fog lamps are not meant for range. Where a vehicle also needs long-distance light on clear nights, pair them with LED auxiliary driving lights.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, if the bumper keeps the stock fog lamp mounting configuration. Some bumpers do not: the Jeep JL Hard Rock and 10th Anniversary Edition bumpers need aftermarket mounting hardware that is not supplied with the lamps. If a vehicle’s bumper has been changed from the factory parts, tell us which bumper is fitted before ordering so we can confirm the fit.
The raw figure is a theoretical value: the rated output of each LED multiplied by the number of LEDs. The effective figure is the light that actually leaves the lamp after thermal, optical and assembly losses. Use the effective figure when you compare lamps from different suppliers, because raw figures overstate what the driver sees.
Yes, but they are white road lamps and should be treated as such. On a vehicle with a blackout switch, wire the fog lamp circuit so it is cut when the vehicle is in blackout mode, in the same way as the headlamps. For the blackout and convoy functions themselves, see our military blackout lights.
Model 6145 J2 is made to the shape and wiring of the Wrangler bumper, so it is not a universal lamp. For other trucks and specialist vehicles that use standard 4 inch round PAR36 fog lamps, we supply the Model 6045 4 inch round fog lights as a direct replacement.
