Hyper Flashing LED lights: How to fix this?
Hyper flashing is a common issue that occurs when a vehicle’s turn signal circuit detects a burned-out bulb. While LED lights bring a host of benefits like improved efficiency, brightness, and longevity, they can sometimes cause this issue due to differences in how they operate compared to traditional bulbs.
What Causes Hyper Flashing?
Hyper flashing is when a vehicle’s turn signal blinks faster than normal. This function is built into the vehicle’s system to alert drivers to a potential bulb failure.
Standard bulbs, also known as incandescent bulbs, rely on electrical resistance to create light. When activated, the filament inside the bulb generates resistance, producing heat and light. If a bulb burns out, the system detects lower resistance and triggers hyper flashing as a warning.
When you replace traditional bulbs with LED upgrades—such as tail lights, marker lights, or turn signals—hyper flashing can occur because LEDs create very little resistance. To address this, a hyper flash resistor can be used. This resistor simulates the resistance of a traditional bulb, allowing your vehicle to function as expected.

How Do LEDs Work?
Unlike standard bulbs, LEDs do not rely on resistance to create light. Instead, they use semiconductors to emit light, which results in significantly lower resistance levels. This lower resistance can trick the vehicle into thinking a bulb is burned out, causing hyper flashing. Many LED lights are equipped with built-in resistors to prevent this issue. However, in some cases, additional adjustments may be required.
Steps to Resolve Hyper Flashing
- Check the LED Lights
Ensure the LEDs are correctly installed and are compatible with your vehicle’s system. Refer to the product manual for specific details. - Install Hyper Flash Resistors
Add a resistor to the circuit of the affected LED light. This device simulates the resistance of a traditional bulb, resolving hyper flashing in most cases. - Inspect All Connections
Verify that all wiring and connectors are properly secured and free of damage. Loose or faulty connections can contribute to hyper flashing. - Test the Lights
Turn on the vehicle’s turn signals to see if the issue persists. If hyper flashing continues, proceed to the next step. - Contact Betalight Tactical
